How to change the PostgreSQL database passwords

This article applies to:

  • Acronis Cyber Files
  • activeEcho

During the installation of Acronis Cyber Files (activEcho) a third-party software PostgreSQL is installed. There are two accounts that are related to PostgreSQL:

  • the service account
  • the database account

If you need to change the database account password, follow the steps below.

  1. On the machine where PostgreSQL is installed invoke Windows Services (Start-Run -> services.msc). Right-click on the Apache Tomcat 7.0 Tomcat7 and activEcho Repository services, and select Stop.
  2. Open pgAdmin, use your current password to authenticate.
  3. Highlight the PostgreSQL 9.2 line in the left side of the pgAdmin.
  4. Click on File menu and select the option Change password.
  5. Once the password is changed, navigate to:
Acronis Cyber Files: C:\Program Files (x86)\Acronis\Access\Access Server\ and edit file named acronisaccess.cfg. Enter the new password in the line "DB_PASSWORD ="
activeEcho: C:\Program Files (x86)\Group Logic and edit the file named activEcho. Enter the new password in the line "DB_PASSWORD ="
  6. Start the activEcho Repository and Apache Tomcat 7.0 Tomcat7 services.

More information

If you need to save the configuration file changes to your desktop, then drag the updated configuration file into "C:\Program Files (x86)\Group Logic\activEcho Server\" to replace the existing file.
