Since Windows update 10.0.17134, OneDrive started storing actual data in the cloud. The files that you see in the OneDrive folder are "links" to the data in OneDrive cloud. As a result, it is not possible to back up these files.

If you are using Acronis Cyber Backup 12.5 Update 4 or Acronis Cyber Backup Cloud version 7.7 or later, the backup completes with warning and the contents of the OneDrive folder are not included in the backup.

You can do one of the following:

  • use Agent for Office 365 to back up OneDrive (in this case, if OneDrive folder is selected, there will be no error message)
  • exclude the folder from the backup to avoid the warning (if you decide to leave the files unprotected)

If you are using Acronis Cyber Backup 12.5 prior to Update 4 or Acronis Cyber Backup Cloud prior to version 7.7, update to the latest build to fix backup failures. In 'version 12' backup format introduced in these versions the folder is automatically excluded from the backup while other items in the backup plan will be protected. Alternatively you can manually exclude personal OneDrive folder from the backup.
